President’s Budget Proposal Confirms Need for Urgent Action

Washington, D.C. – The Retirement Security Coalition today issued the below statement following the release of President Donald Trump’s fiscal year 2021 budget proposal:

“By including the multiemployer pension plan system in his budget proposal, President Trump signaled he agrees with a diverse group of workers, retirees, employers, and bipartisan members of Congress: An urgent solution to the multiemployer pension crisis is needed now.

“Before it is too late, members of Congress on both sides of the aisle must come together this year to ensure ideas turn into action that will save the retirement futures of more than 10 million Americans and prevent a crippling domino effect on our nation’s economy. In collaboration with the White House, Congress must reach a bicameral, bipartisan solution this year to avoid the loss of tens of thousands of jobs and billions in retirement dollars and tax revenues.”
